I am Paua

On Friday, March, 3rd, 2020 Room 8 made Paua designs. We printed them out.
This is my "I am Paua":

I am Paua Date:18-3-20
Name: Beatrice

I am Paua.
I live in the black depths of the ocean.
My bright shades of green come from
the greenest part of the Indian rainforest.
My rosy pinkness comes from beautiful fields
of roses.
My bold shades of violet and warm shades of
gold comes from sparkly fish in the deep, dark,
sea.
And my beautiful silvery-blue reflects my ocean home.

How Covid 19 changed lives

How Covid 19 Changed Lives

Introduction

Covid 19 has changed lives. If you're wondering what Covid 19 is, it’s a bad virus that can make people sick. Older people get Covid more often.

Personal hygiene

A way to stop Covid 19 is by using personal hygiene. You can do that by washing your hands and wearing masks. You can use hand sanitiser if that's easier. Personal hygiene has changed a lot. Now people have to wear masks and wash their hands a lot.

Social distancing

Another way to help stop Covid 19 is to social distance that means staying in your bubble.  That means to stay with the people that you live with. Stay two metres away from everyone else. When you’re inside, stay one metre apart. Also, remember your moist breath zone. That means to stay the distance that's as long as your arm, and then some. Social distancing has changed a lot. People worry about that a lot more now. We used to be able to touch people more, and we could have groupings of any number of people.

Isolation/self isolation

If you think you have Covid 19 you should go to the hospital. Then you will get tested. The doctors will stick a Q-tip up your nose. It will hurt a lot. If you’ ve been travelling overseas you should self isolate until the doctors say you can stop. In level 4 Lockdown, you have to be in your house ALL the time, that is called isolation. You can’t leave your house unless it’s essential. That means you can:
Go to the store
Go to the beach (When there’s nobody there, of course)
Hmm…I think that’s all you can do.

Conclusion

Remember, follow these instructions of Personal hygiene,
Social distancing and Isolation/Self isolation to help stop the spread of Covid 19!

My Favourite Lockdown Memory

 My Favourite Lockdown Memory

My favourite memory from  Lockdown level 4 is the sunset. Every night my Mom would take a picture of the sunset.

It was always so beautiful because there are so many colours.

Mom says she will make a mosaic out of all the sunset pictures! I will make a google slide with them. My sister wants to make a  picture book with them and my Dad, well he doesn’t really care.

Another thing that makes the sunset really beautiful is that it sets right over the ocean so you can see it setting. Literally! My family and I watch it go down every night.

My Mom’s friend says that on clear evenings, right when the sun gets under the horizon, you can see a green flash! Pretty cool, right? Well,  we haven't had any clear nights since my Mom’s friend told my Mom about the flash thing.

It is hard to get a picture of the sunset because it sets right in the middle of dinner!

My Lockdown video

My Lockdown video

During Lockdown, I took videos and pictures of things I do every day. Like taking a walk on the beach, or playing mancala (or falling down on the rocks a million times).

I also practice piano daily. I don't like practicing the piano very much. I'd much rather play lego with my sister or play in our tent.

Camping trip during Lockdown #1

Camping trip during lockdown trip #1

During Lockdown my family and I went camping twice.
We camped in our backyard. This is the story of my first lockdown camping trip.

The marshmallows

We tried to make our own marshmallows for the trip, but it didn't work out very well.

My Mom made the marshmallows. Did you know that marshmallow mixture is clear? Pretty cool, right?

Anyway, I thought the marshmallows would work out perfectly but Mom said, "I don't think the marshmallows will work out."  "I think it will be more like marshmallow soup." She was right.

What we did

We read Heroes of Olympus in the tent. While my Mom was reading, I was doing maths in my maths workbook. I was up until around midnight! Yah you read that right, I was up until around midnight. Before we went to the tent, we had dinner in the garden. We had pizza, chocolate covered cookies (we didn't have graham crackers), marshmallows, and marshmallow soup. We put the marshmallow soup on the cookies. It was the best thing I ever tasted!!! 😁

The tent

Our tent is HUGE! It is grey, white and a little bit green. It is a Kingdom 6. It's so comfy and cozy. It's the best tent I've ever had!

Setting up

My sister (Malena), my mom (Kristen), and I  were in charge of setting up the tent. Me and Malena, well we didn't help set up. Yah, we aren't very helpful. Sorry, Mom!
